THE ROYAL COUNTY OF BERKSHIRE BOWLING ASSOCIATION

STATEMENT BOWLS IN BERKSHIRE 2020.
Following the Statement CORONAVIRUS issued 18th March 2020 by Bowls England , I have been contacted by many clubs as to whether there will be any bowls played in Berkshire in season 2020.
I have been in contact with many members of both the Ladies & Men’s Executive
Committees and we have taken the following decisions.
Inter County Matches (Ladies & Men)
All Inter County matches arranged for 2020 have been cancelled. Celebration, President Invitation & Bannerette Matches (Ladies & Men) All matches arranged for 2020 have been cancelled.
National Championships & Competitions (Bowls England)
The National Championships & Competitions are cancelled in their entirety for 2020 due to the qualifying rounds that are played in the County from May to July; it will be impractical for these to be completed this season.
Berkshire County Competitions (Ladies & Men)
All County Competitions are cancelled in their entirety for 2020. The situation will be reviewed throughout the season and if appropriate some form of Inter Club Competition will be introduced for the later part of the season.
Middleton Cup, Johns Trophy, Walker Cup, Balcomb Trophy, White Rose, Amy Rose All these competitions are run by Bowls England and will not be played for in 2020. Home Counties Leagues & Competitions (Men)
At the time of writing no information has yet been received, but it is expected they will follow the guidance issued by BE
Berkshire County Kennet League (Men)
It was announced today that the fixtures for Weeks 1-7 have been cancelled and that a review will take place at the end of May whether fixtures for Weeks 8 – 14 will be able to be played at a later date.
Affiliation & Competition Fees
To support Clubs at this difficult time Berkshire will also refund the Affiliation and Competition Fees paid for 2020 by each playing member. Berkshire will arrange refunds to all the clubs when we have received the monies from Bowls England.

Men’s Annual Dinner Dance Saturday 14th November 2020
The above events are both to be cancelled
Men’s Bowls Tour to Worcestershire Monday 20th July to Saturday 25th July 2020
The tour has been cancelled and all tourists will receive a FULL refund
